hell yes
"that chain of events is a matter of historical interest, not co-authorship" bars
so interested in the stories manifesto - i'm realizing now that several of my favorite media came to be so because of general concepts or setting; those broad strokes were inspiring enough for me to get my head racing with headcanons or other stories that could exist its universe or more possibilities of what the story could be. i had previously attributed this feeling to just "vibes," so this framing was quite helpful! (and reassuring that details in our own art dont have to matter for it to be interesting to ourselves or others)
I appreciate how this demonstrates both the advantages and disadvantages of writing manifestos. It can be unifying to put up a flag, but the aggression and divisiveness silences those who are quiet if they disagree.
YES!!!
hit after hit after hit. I think I don't really know what a manifesto is tbh and your explanation kind of helped me understand what the hell I was doing with mine? also 'games' is interesting bc I think I'm realizing how I'm in a small subset of people who actually like games but also makes them. anyway. always love reading what you put out and sitting upon the mountain and reflecting on it. thanks!
HOW THE FUCK IS EVERYTHING SO GOOD?
EVERY MANIFESTO A BANGER
shit straight into the mother toilet as usual

A banger sequel to a banger manifesto. Nothing lesser about this.
You are so cool, candle.
reading this with a massive smile plastered on my faceee hahahah yeaasssss!!! i love reading candle literature
"i come to find something new to think about" is a wonderful condensation. And totally agree that reviews, comments etc should only come from a place of connection and wonder. A negative review is pointless, even a great work will contain significant parts of cliche and mediocrity, who cares, that's obvious and has no bearing on what makes something special!
i do think it's funny how people trying to be "objective" about rating stories feel like they have to individually rate every single aspect of plot structure & mechanic, as if every single story is being written with the goal to check a box for "character development" or "prose quality" sometimes conventional elements don't serve the story you want to tell!!
also it's true, the best kind of stories are the ones that make you chew over their ideas
literally you can compare our manifestos and see that we're thinking about very similar things LOL great writing, love ya bud!!!
The one about premises being the only part that really matters in a story spoke to me. I like good execution in writing but at the end of the day it really is what you take away from it that matters. I think it’s a spectrum but I was always annoyed at the types of people who would say the ending of Titanic sucks because the door was big enough for both Rose and Jack, and every day I feel that bar for being annoyed getting lowered
yesss every one a banger
